There are vacancy on the Zoning Board of Appeals for a Regular Member and two Alternate Members...
This position can be filled by a Republican, Democrat or Independent. Alternates participate in meetings, but cannot vote except when "seated" (actually taking the place of an absent regular member). Being an alternate is a good starting place for anyone interested in participating in their local government. You learn the functions of the Board, its procedures, protocol, and the limitations of your authority. The ZBA meets on the second Monday of each month except October when the meeting is on the second Tuesday. The primary function of the ZBA is to review and act on appeals of the Zoning Enforcement Officer decisions where the property owner believes a hardship caused by the land exists or appeals to an exception to the Zoning Regulations. Please contact John Moulson, current chairman of this Board, at 860-705-3649 if you are interested in being appointed to this position.
