Conservation Commission

As defined in Section 7-131a of the Connecticut General Statutes, Conservation Commissions are advisory in nature. They are mandated to keep an index of open space and natural resources, conduct research into the possible utilization of land areas, approve grant applications for open space and preservation purposes, and keep records of meetings and activities. In addition, there are a dozen optional responsibilities available to Conservation Commissions.

In 2009-2010 the Preston Conservation Commission chose to focus on management of conservation land/easements, updating and expanding Preston’s resource inventory, connecting with regional agencies, finalizing conservation regulations and preparing for the next Plan of Conservation & Development.
