The Zoning Board of Appeals shall have the powers and duties prescribed in Section 8-6 of the Connecticut General Statutes. The Zoning Board of Appeals consists of eight members plus legal council and the Assessor/Zoning Enforcement Officer.
This Board governs the appeals for variances, for location approval, approval for dealers in or the repairing of motor vehicles and appeals to decisions of the Zoning Enforcement Officer. All appeals and applications for variances made to the Zoning Board of Appeals shall be in writing on a form obtainable from the Zoning Enforcement Officer or by downloading an application here and should be submitted within 10 days prior to a meeting, along with material showing the plans for which the variance is being requested.
A check in the amount of $110.00 made payable to the “Town of Preston” shall be submitted with the application. A representative that will be able to answer questions on the application should be prepared to attend the meeting. Any questions that you may have should be directed to the Zoning Enforcement Officer of the Town of Preston, Mildred Peringer at 860-887-5581 x115. For public hearings all notices should be sent out within twelve (10) days of the meetings.

The Zoning Board of Appeals meets on the 2nd Monday of each month (except October) at 6:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Conference Room. The Board only meets when there is business to attend to.
