As we begin a new year we can hope for more sanity in 2013 than in 2012. We ended the year with the tragedy in Newtown, political dysfunction in Washington highlighted by gridlock in dealing with "the fiscal cliff", and understanding our place in the world. As we look forward, we're facing the challenges of a struggling economy, huge budget issues at the state and federal levels and developing solutions to address violence in our society. We have choices on how we address these challenges.
